King Crab Hot Dog

King Crab Hot Dog with Avocado & Microgreens

This isn’t your average sandwich. Buttery, succulent king crab paired with creamy avocado, fresh greens, and delicate microgreens comes together in a soft hot dog bun. It’s indulgence in every bite.

Ingredients

For the Hotdog (1 Serving):

• 1 hotdog bun, lightly toasted
• 1-2 leaves of crisp lettuce (such as romaine or iceberg)
• 1 whole king crab leg (cooked on the grill or in water)

For the Egg Avocado Salad:

• 1 hard-boiled egg, finely chopped
• ½ avocado, mashed
• 1 teaspoon lime juice
• 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
• ½ teaspoon finely minced shallot
• ½ teaspoon finely chopped jalapeño (adjust to taste)
• Salt and pepper to taste

For the Ginger-Garlic Butter:

• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
• ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
• ½ teaspoon minced garlic
• Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the King Crab Leg.

Boiling Method:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the king crab leg and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for 5-6 minutes if precooked (most store-bought king crab legs are precooked); if raw, simmer for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Remove the crab leg from the water and let it cool slightly.

Grilling Method:

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (375-400°F).
  2. Brush the crab leg with olive oil to prevent sticking and enhance flavor.
  3. Place the crab leg directly on the grill grates and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through and slightly charred on the outside.

After cooking, carefully crush the shell with a crab cracker or kitchen scissors and keep the leg meat intact for presentation.

Prepare the Egg Avocado Salad

  1. In a small bowl, mix the chopped hard-boiled egg, mashed avocado, lime juice, mayonnaise, shallot, and jalapeño.
  2. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust lime juice or jalapeñoto personal preference.

Make the Ginger-Garlic Butter

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the grated ginger, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Let it gently infuse for 1-2 minutes, careful not to brown the garlic. Then, please remove it from heat and keep it warm.

Assemble the Hotdog

  1. Place the lettuce leaves inside the toasted hotdog bun.
  2. Add a generous layer of the egg avocado salad on the lettuce.
  3. Lay the prepared whole king crab leg on top and arrange it like a hotdog.

Serve

Drizzle the warm ginger-garlic butter over the crab leg or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce.
